We’re excited to bring back one of our community’s most beloved coffees, Don Guayo! Our relationship with Bonaventure began in 2019, and we’ve been eagerly awaiting each harvest ever since.
For years, renowned Guatemalan producer and exporter Luis Pedro Zelaya has assembled the finest Bourbon lots from small farms near Antigua, blending them into specialty coffees under the indigenous name “Hunapu.” In 2012, before Bonaventure officially launched, they asked Luis Pedro to spotlight a single Hunapu producer. He immediately chose Eduardo “Guayo” Gomez—better known to his friends and neighbors as Don Guayo—for his unparalleled consistency in both production and quality.
Don Guayo remains a perennial favorite for good reason. His carefully selected Bourboncito variety thrives on the warm, sandy slopes of Volcan de Agua. Here, his dedication shines through in beautifully balanced flavors of orange fruits and chocolates, further enhanced by Zelcafe’s meticulous processing at Bella Vista.
